Loop Tackle

In 1979 Christer Sjoberg and Tony Karpestam started Karpens Flyfishing. 25 years later what was a small shop has grown to one of the leading manufacturers on the market. During the early years when the business was small, Christer, Tony and most of their customers found that many of the products did not suit modern flyfishing. This insight eventually led them to the only viable alternative - to create suitable products themselves. Together with casting guru Goran Andersson, they forged a new company to develop and manufacture the products that the times and the market demanded. During this period Goran was bringing forth his revolutionary underhand casting technique and with it came many of the required products - which would eventually turn the heads of the entire industry. These were the keystones to the development of Loop Tackle Design. Also at about the same time, a mechanical engineer from Northern Sweden appeared one day in the shop with a new type of flyreel which had a large arbor. The genius Kurt Danielsson had the reel in his hands that forever changed the reel market, later known as the Loop Traditional.

Over the years that followed, the travel piece of the puzzle became a meaningful part of business. Christer Sjoberg was one of the first pioneers to explore the Kola Peninsula and make its rivers available to Loop clients seeking Atlantic Salmon and huge Brown Trout in unspoiled waters. In addition to the Kola, Loop has delivered spectacular saltwater flyfishing in Cuba and the Seychelles, more recently Seatrout fishing in Argentina. All these destinations have provided the ideal testing grounds over the years for the development and refinement of the flyfishing industry's most innovative and functional products.

Loop Tackle Design's ambition is and has always been to make flyfishing easier and more fun through original thinking and continuous development. The philosophy of a balanced set of equipment where all the components compliment one another and function together perfectly has always been our guiding star.
