Shimano Curado E
Curado has always been one of the most popular baitcasting reels in the Shimano line-up since it was 1st introduced in 1991. The new "E" is completely redesigned bearing a darker shade of green than the current Curado D and a major upgrade in features. The 1st thing to notice is that reels are much smaller & lighter than the previous model. The 200 size body is sculpted as a 100 size however with a spoolcapacity of a 200; easy to palm in the hand. The reel features a Magnumlite spool, increased ball bearing count and the star drag is upgraded to the performance of the mighty Calais. It offers increased control over casts and flips over short distances. Rather than stopping the spool with your thumb after completing a cast, you can stop the spool from spinning simply by flipping the clutch bar back to the "lock" position. This is what Shimano calls Instage which is easier in use compared to a standard casting reel. In the proper hands this can be a lethal flipping machine!

Shimano has taken the next step in cast control technology. Introducing the revolutionary Digital Control system. This is the first self-energizing Digital Braking "smart" baitcasting feature. It features 8 different pre-programmed braking patterns based on lure and casting type. With this technology, each of the 8 pre-programmed braking patterns provide awesome control of the feeding of the line by applying the ideal amount of braking force at
critical intervals. As a result, it is possible to achieve long, accurate casts with consistent backlash control. The application of the "smart" braking by the Digital Control System quickly stabilizes the spool rotation. Digital Control varies the amount of braking force depending on line tension, minimizing the
chance of the dreaded backlash.

The increased RPM's provided by the Digital Control System ensure longer casts. At the same time, the pre-programmed braking patterns allow for not only easy, external adjustment for any situation, but also an extremely manageable cast with less backlash. Overall, the Digital Control Braking System means further casts, less effort, less backlash, and easy, quick adjustment.

Shimano Calcutta B
The new Calcutta B series, like its' predecessor, is constructed from a cold forged aluminium frame, side plates and spool, which create a strong frame with tighter tolerances. The reels also feature the Variable Brake System (VBS) that uses centrifugal brake weights to aid cast control. Unlike their predecessors, however, the 101B and 201B incorporate an Easy Access Side plate so that the brake weights can be adjusted without removing the spool. The gear ratio in the 200 and 400 size models has also been increased. All reels feature Shimano's A-RB stainless steel ball bearings, Super Stopper to eliminate back play and enable solid hooksets, and a Dartanium drag. The larger CT400B, 400BSV and 700BSV include a clicker that increases the tension on the freespool and activates a "fish-on" clicking alarm whilst the CT400BSV and 700BSV also have 3-Position Power Grips that allow for three diff erent hand positions for various fishing techniques. The CT400BSV and 700BSV are designed without a top crossbar or level wind to provide better access to the spool.
